Description

The Grade 4 curriculum has a weekly 1.5-hour class that is full of new topics and technological knowledge. In this grade, students solve and code increasingly complex scripts, review and consolidate their learning on circuitry, encryption and binary. They are introduced to new topics such as logic gates, switches and resistors. After learning the more complex coding styles with Python, students are introduced to a new programming language called JavaScript. JavaScript includes concepts such as creating shapes using pixels and cartesian coordinates, user interactions such as animation when clicking a mouse and many more interesting codes and functions. Grade 4 students continue to have independent assignments, research projects and PowerPoint presentations that build and strengthen their time management, social and communication skills. Typing drills, problem solving, and cooperative group work continue to be key components in this class. All students will write tests throughout the semester and a final exam at the end of the year.
